White Book Provides Initial Responses to Comments Received in International ConsultationsNord Stream’s White Book – a record of its comprehensive international consultations conducted on the proposed pipeline route across the Baltic Sea – can be accessed online. Based on the project’s status as of June 2008, it responds to more than 200 comments and questions received from national authorities and individual stakeholders. These comments were submitted from all nine Baltic Sea countries following formal notification of the project in November 2006 and publication of a status document in October 2007. In line with the company’s policy of transparency and open dialogue, the document complements the information process required under the Espoo Convention.
The issues raised range from various types of potential impact to alternatives and safety precautions. The more than 1,600 issues raised have received systematic responses. These have been grouped into 89 different sub-headings covering seven main areas of interest. The White Book demonstrates how comments and concerns have been taken into account. It also covers the general approach, principles and major findings in the various fields involved (natural science, engineering, legal aspects etc.) in a way that is transparent and accessible to non-experts. Please download the complete White Book for further information. |
