E.ONE.ON AG is the world’s largest privately owned power and gas company. E.ON Ruhrgas AG is the marketing unit of E.ON, which is responsible for the pan-European gas business. The company is the largest natural gas provider in Germany and is one of the leading gas companies in Europe. E.ON Ruhrgas possesses a well-diversified, long-term supply portfolio and purchases its natural gas from six different sources, among them Russia and Norway. Some of the supply contracts run until 2036. E.ON Ruhrgas has been purchasing natural gas from Russia for 30 years and is the largest foreign shareholder of OAO Gazprom (6.4%). E.ON Ruhrgas and its subsidiaries have upstream activities in the British and Norwegian North Sea. The company has vast know-how and expertise in pipeline operations. It has, and is currently participating in building and operating important European offshore pipelines in the North Sea, such as Interconnector (235 km, 40 inches, 25.5 bcm/a reverse flow, 20 bcm/a forward flow, commissioning 1998) and BBL (Bacton-Balgzand-Line, 230 km, 36 inches, 13.5 bcm/a, commissioning 2006). |
