Congratulations! Team Russia wins Nord Stream Race 2014

June 5, 2014 | At 3:35 CET the Russian sailing team skippered by Igor Frolov and sponsored by Gazprom was the first to reach Warnemünde, the final point of the Nord Stream Race across the Baltic Sea along the Nord Stream Pipeline route.

The competition among the sailing teams of state-of-the-art Swan 60 Class yachts was fierce but the Russian team managed to get ahead of the other participants south of Öland and maintained their advantage till the end. Team China came second arriving in Warnemünde at 4.51. The third was the "Spirit of Europe" team skippered by Tim Kröger, arriving exhausted but happy at 7.19. About an hour and a half later, at 9.51 the yacht "Tsaar Peter" finished the race; the "Petite Flamme" came only 7 minutes later. Team Germany reached shore as final runner. The prize giving ceremony will take place on Saturday.

Congratulations to Team Europe supported by Nord Stream AG for a confident performance in this challenging race!
