Turbidity, or murkiness caused by suspended sediment, is monitored at several key locations. Turbidity is a good measure of water quality.
Nord Stream is conducting the most comprehensive environmental research of the Baltic Sea's flora and fauna to date. Monitoring will take place throughout construction and operation of the pipelines.
