Pipe production by EUROPIPE (O-ing press)
The O-ing press moulds the steel plates into the shape of an O. The production steps include plate production, pipe milling, welding, stretching, treatment of pipe ends and quality control. Pipe segments for Nord Stream's first line are produced by the German company EUROPIPE (75 percent) and OMK from Russia (25 percent). In January 2010, Nord Stream decided on the second pipe tender. EUROPIPE was awarded 65 percent, OMK 25 percent, and Japanese Sumitomo 10 percent.
