Pipe production by EUROPIPE (U-ing press)
The U-ing press moulds the steel plates into half tubes. The production steps include plate production, pipe milling, welding, stretching, treatment of pipe ends and quality control. The German company, EUROPIPE produced 75 percent of the pipe segments for Nord Stream's first line. In January 2010, Nord Stream decided on the second pipe tender , and EUROPIPE was awarded a contract for manufacturing 65 percent of the pipes necessary for Line 2.
