Interview: Pipelay Vessel Solitaire Goes into Service
Leo D. Varkevisser, Vice-President of Projects and Operations for Allseas, outlines the deployment of the pipelay vessel Solitaire. The Nord Stream Project is a special challenge for Allseas. The Nord Stream Pipeline is using the largest and heaviest pipes that Allseas has ever laid down. The Solitaire will lay up to 3.5 km of pipe per day. The vessel excels at the job since it does not need to drop anchor during the pipelay process.
