Fall-pipe vessel Seahorse
The Seahorse places gravel on the seabed. For safety reasons, strategic rock placement is necessary in some locations to create a stable basis for the Nord Stream Pipeline. Rock placement is the use of coarse gravel and small stones to locally reshape the seabed, thereby providing support for the pipeline to ensure its long-term integrity. About 90 percent of the pipeline will be laid directly on the seabed without the need for seabed intervention.
