Gas Begins to Flow through Line 2

On October 8, 2012, gas began to flow through Line 2 of Nord Stream’s twin pipeline system. Together the two pipelines are now capable of delivering 55 billion cubic metres of gas a year to the European gas grid. With the press of a button by Sergei Popov, Director of the Gazprom Gas Complex Preparation Station, gas began to flow through Line 2. At this this station, gas that will flow through the pipelines is prepared and then fed into the Nord Stream Pipelines.
