Gas production at the Yuzhno-Russkoye gas field
Gas production is concentrated around the city of Novy Urengoy, located 60 kilometres south of the polar circle, 2,500 kilometres north-east of Moscow. Discovered in 1969, the Yuzhno-Russkoye gas field near Novy Urengoy covers 1,100 square kilometres of gas productive area.
