In January 2011, unique heavy equipment was installed at the Nord Stream construction site in Portovaya Bay. Giant gate valves weighing over 100 tons and six man's heights each are equipped with a unique control system and do not require overhaul throughout the 50-year lifetime of the Nord Stream Pipeline.
