Handling of pipe segments at Mukran, Port of Sassnitz (Rügen Island, Germany), May 2008
Two 12.2-metre long and about 12-ton heavy pipe joints for the Nord Stream pipeline are loaded onto waiting trucks with a so-called "reach stacker". The pipe segments are then transported to the interim stock yard only a few hundred metres away. Since May 2008, one to three trains arrive every weekday in Mukran (R端gen Island, Germany) carrying up to 108 joints each.
