Last Pipe of Line 2

In the early morning of April 18, 2012, pipe number 99,953, the last pipe of Line 2, was welded onto pipeline and lowered onto the seabed off the coast of Gotland, Sweden by the Castoro Sei laybarge. A total of 199,755 pipes were used to form both of the Nord Stream Pipelines.

All three sections of Line 2 have now been laid and will be welded together underwater in May and June. Line 2 will become operational as part of the fully-automated twin pipeline system toward the end of 2012.
