Mussels Tested Within Environmental Monitoring Programme
As part of Nord Stream's Environmental and Social Monitoring Programme, mussels are tested in a laboratory in Lysekil, Sweden. Mussels filter the sea water to gain nutrients from plankton. Monitoring the development of their life-cycle helps researchers assess the impact of pipeline construction on environmentally sensitive areas that were assessed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports as being likely to experience a potential impact from the pipeline project.
