Nord Stream Munitions Clearance (Passive Acoustic Monitoring)
PAM (passive acoustic monitoring) detects marine mammals by monitoring their vocalisations. The array of hydrophones (orange) listens to establish the presence of mammals. The radar beacon (yellow) makes it visible to ship traffic.
Nord Stream developed a plan for the removal of munitions to ensure that the pipeline is safe and the effects on the Baltic Sea environment and on marine life are minimal.
