Sergei Ivanov Speaking at We Deliver Event
On October 8, 2012, just 30 months after the start of construction, both lines of Nord Stream's twin pipeline system came on-stream. This occasion was celebrated at an event held in Portovaya Bay, Russia, near the starting point of the pipelines at the Baltic Coast. At the event, Sergei Ivanov, Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office said in his speech at the ceremony that the project represents a big step for all of Europe, made possible as a result of mutual trust and consideration. He also stated that combined efforts and resources make it possible to carry out even the most complex international projects.
He went to say, "Nord Stream is a strategic project that will promote development and economic growth and create new jobs in Russia and Europe."
