Storage of pipe segments at Kotka (Finland), June 2008
Pipe joints for the construction of the Nord Stream pipeline have been stored in Kotka, Finland since June 2008. There, the 12.2-metre long pipes will be coated with a concrete layer 60-110 millimetres thick. The concrete weight coating lends additional weight and thereby stability to the pipeline.
