Subsea Launcher Head

This photo shows the Subsea Launcher, which was tested for water tightness. prior to being transferred to the pipelay vessel Castoro Sei. This type device will be the starting piece of the pipeline when laying starts at Kilometre Point 675 near the Island of Gotland, Sweden. It will a seal for the pipeline to prevent any water (which could cause corrosion) from getting in. It houses four pigs (pipeline inspection gauges) which will be used for flooding, cleaning and gauging the pipeline once it is completed.
