Ship-to-Ship Transport in Slite, Sweden
The last pipe transhipment to the pipelay vessel Castoro Sei from the Swedish port of Slite took place on April 18, 2012. About 56,000 pipes were shipped to Slite from Mukran, Germany from 2010 through 2012. A ship-to-ship system was developed for this port as the quay was not large enough to store many pipes. With this system, pipes delivered by sea from Mukran, Germany where transferred directly to a smaller transport ship situated on the opposite side of the pier.
