From Ore to Pipe – Logistics Whether on the Road, Rail, or the Water
Dr. Michael Gräf, CEO of EUROPIPE GmbH, reports that Nord Stream has contracted for some 860,000 tonnes worth of pipes. Axel Ester, Senior Sales Manager at EUROPIPE GmbH, talks about quality assurance during the pipe production process: of the 27 production steps, 14 are dedicated to inspection and quality assurance. Harm Sievers, Managing Director of the Sassnitz GmbH ferry terminal, specifies the logistical scope of the project: Some 65,000 pipes are destined for Mukran alone. Of those, 10,000 will be transported directly on the pipelay vessels, while 55,000 will be held in interim storage yards at the port.
