Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic Plays Opening Concert of the 2014 Usedom Music Festival

Nord Stream AG supports the BYP since its inception in 2008

Sept. 19, 2014 | Zug | Nord Stream AG is looking forward to the Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic (BYP) playing the opening concert of the Usedom Music Festival in Peenemünde on September 20, 2014. The BYP was founded by North Stream AG and Usedom Music Festival in 2008. The orchestra is now touring for the seventh consecutive year and has played over 45 concerts so far.

The Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonics consist of highly talented musicians between the ages of 18 and 30 from music academies around the entire Baltic Sea Region.

“The Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic impressively demonstrates how young people from various nations collaborate across borders and how much energy can be generated through cooperation,” says Dirk von Ameln, Nord Stream Permitting Director and Chairman of the Board of the Baltic Sea Music Education Foundation e.V.

In Peenemünde, the BYP will be led by founding conductor and music director Kristjan Järvi and will feature Polish-Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki as soloist. This year’s programme includes pieces by Wojciech Kilar, Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms. Further concerts will take place in St. Petersburg (September 23), Bonn (September 26), Milan (September 28) and Verona (September 29).
